Barack Obama

Barrack Obama. The 44th president of the United States. Elected president on November 4th 2008 and sworn in on January 20 2009. But who is Barrack Obama.

Barrack Obama was born on August 4 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He did well through High School graduating with top honours. Following high school, Obama moved to Los Angelos, where he studied at Occidental College for two years. He then transferred to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations. Obama graduated with a B.A. from Columbia in 1983. He worked for a year at the Business International Corporation and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group.

Barrack then moved to New York for work before enrolling in Harvard Law 3 years later. He was top of his class and was chosen as editor of the Harvard Law Review. Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review gained national media attention and led to a publishing contract and advance for a book about race relations. Barrack Obama married his wife Michelle Obama in 1992.

In an effort to recruit him to their faculty, the University of Chicago Law School provided Obama with a fellowship and an office to work on his book. He originally planned to finish the book in one year, but it took much longer as the book evolved into a personal memoir. In order to work without interruptions, Obama and his wife, Michelle, traveled to Bali where he wrote for several months. The manuscript was finally published in mid-1995 as Dreams from My Father.]

During this, Barrack Obama moved to Chicago to serve as Professor for twelve years, at the University of Chicago Law School teaching Constitutional Law. He was first classified as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996 and then as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004.

Barrack Obama was also elected to the Illinois senate in 1996.  Once elected, Obama gained bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws. He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare. In 2001, as co-chairman of the bipartisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Obama supported Republican Governor Ryan's payday loan regulations and predatory mortgage lending regulations aimed at averting home foreclosures. Obama was re-elected to the Illinois Senate in 1998, defeating Republican Yesse Yehudah in the general election, and was re-elected again in 2002. Barrack Obama then resigned in November 2004 following his election to the United States Senate.

Barrack Obama was elected to the United States Senate of Illinois with 70 % of the votes and has since been the Senator until 2008 when he decided to enter for the United States presidency.

But before we go into that lets take a step back into his personal life. Barrack Hussein Obama married wife Michelle Obama in 1992. Barrack only got to see his father once after his parents got a divorce when he was two. His father died in 1982 in an automobile accident in Kenya. His Mother was the one who took care of him helping him become the man he is today but sadly wasn’t able to see his accomplishments when she died of ovarian cancer in 1995 in Hawaii. His mother also wasn’t able to see his to kids Malia  Ann born in 1998 and Natasha born in 2001. Barrack’s Grand-Ma who helped raised him dies one day before he was elected president of the United States.

Now back to the presidential campaign. On February 10, 2007, Obama announced his candidacy for President of the United States in front of the Old State Capitol building in Springfield, Illinois The choice of the announcement site was symbolic because it was also where Abraham Lincoln delivered his historic "House Divided" speech in 1858.Throughout the campaign, Obama emphasized the issues of rapidly ending the Iraq War, increasing energy independence, and providing universal health care. He then went against Hilary Clinton for the Democratic Nomination. The votes for both democrats were tallied up in June 3 2008 with Barrack Obama the winner.

He then went on a 5 month long campaign against Republican leader and Bush supporter John McCain. On August 23 2008 Obama elected Senator Joe Biden for his Vice President. On August 28 2008 he accepted the Democratic Nomination in Denver Colorado in front of 84000 people and 38 million from home.

On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain in the general election with 365 electoral votes to McCain's 173 (as well as 53 % of the votes) and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Chicago's Grant Park, Obama proclaimed that "change has come to America"

But he wasn’t sworn in until January 20 2009 in which he had time to choose his cabinet including Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.  He was sworn in as president of the United States in Washington DC in front of 2 million people and hundreds of millions of people on television and the internet.

Barrack Obama has often been known as a great public speaker including his Democratic Nomination Acceptance speech, President Elect speech, and his acceptance as president of the United States. Barrack Obama is loved by billions who listen to every word he says and it will be interesting to see how the 44th and the First African American President can change the world. Because as he said “Change has come!”
